Information for Volunteers
At Lighthouse our aim is for children to experience God's amazing love for us all and to discover God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit through the sharing and exploring of Bible stories. We also want them to experience fun, acceptance, unbounded patience, fair discipline and lots of love!
The Lighthouse week is full of fun, laughter, games, sport, drama, dancing, singing, craft, messy games and the occasional gunging.
A typical day at Lighthouse will consist of a 'Main Stage' experience at the start and end of the day with all children and volunteers joining together and the rest of the day will be split into 5 activity sessions for children in Reception to Year 4. These activities will include Lighthouse teaching sessions on the theme of the week , craft activities, sports, drama and an afternoon Lighthouse session to explore the day's theme more fully. Years 5 and 6 have a separate programme and are known as Trinity House.
We also operate a creche for pre-school children of volunteers for the days when they are helping.

What could I do ?
In the front line are the Lighthouse Keepers who look after a group of 10-12 children through the week, with one or more Lamplighters (our teenage helpers).
You could be part of an activity team, which plans and delivers sessions for craft, sports or drama. You could be in the worship band or part of the Main Stage team delivering entertainment for the children at the start and end of each day. Or, if large groups of children aren't your thing, you could join a support team eg administration, First Aid, registration, on-site prayer support or, most important, supplying volunteer refreshments.
If you are unable to volunteer during the Lighthouse week then we also need people to help with setting up the site and breaking it down again and to help plan the event
The minimum age for volunteers at Marlow Lighthouse is 12 as at 31st August 2024 (ie currently in Year 7). Some roles have a higher minimum age and for more information on specific roles please visit the roles pages.
In the weeks before Lighthouse we arrange informal briefing/training sessions, so that you and your team are ready to hit the ground running.
