FAQ for Volunteers
Q: Where does Lighthouse take place?
A: Marlow Lighthouse will run this year at St Peter's Catholic Primary School, Prospect Road, Marlow, SL7 2PJ
Q: Do I need a Lighthouse t-shirt if I am not a Lighthouse Keeper or Lamplighter?
A: Yes, we ask that everyone who volunteers whilst the children are on site wears a red Lighthouse t-shirt so that you are easily identifiable as a volunteer
Q: Is parking available on site?
A: Parking is very limited at the school and so we urge volunteers to walk or cycle wherever possible and to lift-share if you do need to drive.
Q: I have a child attending Lighthouse, is it possible for them to arrive on site at the same time as me in the mornings?
A: Yes, Marlow Lighthouse runs a special area for volunteers' children in the mornings from the time you arrive until the Lighthouse programme for the children starts. Volunteers children will be looked after and brought to the main stage to join their Lighthouse.
Unfortunately it is not possible for you to bring any other children with you, even to help out a friend and siblings of helpers under 18 cannot come on site early with them.
Q: How do I know if my DBS is acceptable to Lighthouse?
A: We will accept a DBS which is up to 3 years old (5 years old if you have helped at Lighthouse previously and are known by us). If you have registered with the Update Service then a DBS can be any age. If you have any queries about this please contact us as soon as possible.
Q: My daughter is volunteering as a Lamplighter. Which meetings does she need to attend?
A: She should attend all meetings appropriate to her roles. This information will be available in the Volunteers section of this website under Key Times and Dates once they have been set. If she is unable to attend a meeting she must contact the Administration Team Leader and let them know.
